Passengers will have to undergo security checks when boarding the KTX bullet train to prevent terror attacks.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Wednesday said security gates will be set up at Seoul, Osong, Iksan and other major stations by March next year.
The government set aside W1.8 billion to procure 10 to 15 mobile security gates, but they will not cover all stations
The official said the severity of checks will vary depending on the overall security situation.
There is currently no way to screen people for explosives or flammables. The ministry said the security checks may be expanded if the gates prove successful.
