Hotel Shilla head Lee Boo-jin is to spearhead the company's efforts to attract Chinese visitors during the September-October holiday season, the company said Monday.
The number of Chinese tourists visiting Korea plummeted due to the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome earlier this year.
Hotel Shilla plans a marketing blitz in Shanghai on Sept. 9 ahead of China's mid-autumn festival on Sept. 26-27 and National Day holidays on Oct. 1-7.
Lee will attend the event and explain the merits of visiting Korea to Chinese customers.
The hotel has invited Chinese journalist, power bloggers and opinion leaders. Around 40 percent of Chinese people visiting Korea come from Shanghai.
Lee, an heiress to Samsung Group, last visited China in June with top executives of Shilla's duty-free operations and met with Chinese tourism industry and government officials.
