Typhoon Goni to Bring More Storms This Week

      Korea will be hit by Goni, the 15th typhoon of this year, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration on Sunday. An advisory was issued for Jeju on Monday and for the eastern coast of Gyeongsang and Gangwon provinces on Tuesday.

      Heavy rains are expected for the entire country on Tuesday and Wednesday, when the typhoon comes closest to the country.

      As of 3 p.m. on Sunday, Goni was passing waters east of Taipei, heading northeast with winds at the maximum speed of 40 m/s and a radius of about 330 km.

      The typhoon is expected to approach waters some 140 km southeast of Busan around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the KMA predicted. Strong winds with speeds of 30 m/s will batter the Gyeongsang provinces and heavy rain lash the country from Tuesday.
