Tax revenue in the first half of this year increased W8.2 trillion compared to a year ago (US$1=W1,191).
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance on Thursday said tax revenue for the central government from January to June was W106.6 trillion, accounting for 49.4 percent of the total target for this year.
In 2014, the government had collected only 45 percent of the goal by the end of the first half.
Finance authorities believe that greater profitability of businesses and more income from a resurgent real estate market after a long recession contributed significantly to the rise.
