North Korea and China will open a wax museum with effigies of the leaders of the two countries in the Mangyongdae district in Pyongyang where regime founder Kim Il-sung's old house stands.

Zhang Molei, the director of the Great Man Wax Museum of China, said the museum will be built in collaboration with North Korea's Mansudae Art Studio, China's Global Times reported Wednesday.

The studio is famous for churning out all the saccharine paintings of North Korean leaders that litter the country.

Mangyongdae is 12 km from downtown Pyongyang. Zhang wrote to leader Kim Jong-un for permission to set up the wax museum.
