Organizers of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang have turned their attention to recruiting a crucial part of their team: volunteers.
These generous participants have traditionally played important roles at the international sporting competition, with tasks such as translation and public relations.
The organizers are setting up a committee in charge of recruitment, training and management of all volunteers and producing manuals inspired by similar bodies at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju.
Recruitment starts in February next year and will extend until April 2017.
The plan is to recruit 22,000 volunteers for the Olympics and 12,000 for Paralympics. Those with experience at the Asian Games and the Universiade will be given priority.
