With the shipbuilding and steel industries heavily affected by the recession, more people are losing jobs, especially in manufacturing.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor said on Tuesday that more than 528,000 people applied for unemployment benefits over the first half of this year.
Most applicants came from the manufacturing sector, followed by those who used to work in the health and hospitality industries that were severely hit by the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.
