Strong winds will hit the east and south coasts on Friday as Nangka, the 11th typhoon of this year, is heading north toward Japan.
The typhoon is expected to pass Shikoku, the smallest of Japan's major islands, on Friday, crossing waters about 180 km east of Dokdo around 3 p.m. on Saturday to fade into a tropical depression on Sunday.
The typhoon will bring clouds over the entire country on Friday, with 5-20 mm of occasional rain expected for Gangwon Province and the Gyeongsang and Chungcheong provinces, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
It will be cloudy across the country Saturday too.
The KMA warned of gusts on Jeju Island and the eastern and southern coasts and high waves.
But the hot weather will return Sunday, when Nangka will dissipate, with the day's high expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius in Seoul.
