Prosecutors on Wednesday cleared actress Clara of blackmailing Lee Gyu-tae, the head of her former agency Polaris Entertainment.
Instead, prosecutors indicted Lee for threatening the actress.
Lee accused Clara of threatening to report him for sexual harassment if he did not annul her contract. But prosecutors said Clara's actions were not criminal and that her claims of sexual harassment were neither exaggerated nor malicious. They added it was Clara's right to seek to cancel her contract.
While investigating the complaint against Clara, the prosecution found out he had made threats against the starlet. Lee allegedly threatened to have her killed or maimed.
On a recording allegedly from August last year, Lee is heard to say, "It may be scary to hear but [I] could cut your neck in a moment. [I] could make you disabled, anything is possible."
