Cha Du-ri, a veteran defender on FC Seoul, will retire from the professional league at the end of this season.
The footballer already left the national team in March this year.
However, fans may still want to see him play on the field, as he garnered the most votes in a mobile survey from June 15 to 29 to pick the best players for the annual exhibition match, All-Star Game set to be held in mid-July, according to the Korea Professional Football League on Tuesday.
Some 125,929 votes supported Cha.
"I feel sorry that I 'stole' votes that were meant to go to younger players," Cha said. "But I'm happy to play in the All-Star Game and do my best as it will be the last match of my career."
