Chung Hyeon, a 19-year-old tennis player from Korea ranked 78th in the world, was knocked out of the first round of Wimbledon on Monday.
Chung faced 151st-ranked Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships in Wimbledon, London. After a closely fought match that lasted over three hours, Chung lost 3-2 in five sets.
It was the first time in seven years that a Korean reached a major tournament since Lee Hyung-taik did in the French Open in 2008.
"I wanted to win so badly and I feel that made me play too passively," Chung said.
Chung will return to Korea and compete in the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju. His next chance in the majors will come in September at the U.S. Open.
