Major palaces and royal tombs in Seoul will be open to the public free of charge in July.
The Cultural Heritage Administration said Wednesday that for the month of July all visitors can enter four major palaces -- Changdeok (except for its rear garden), Changgyeong, Deoksu and Gyeongbok palaces -- along with royal tombs and the royal shrine of Jongmyo, without admission fees, which usually range between W1,000 and W3,000 (US$1=W1,123).
"We decided to offer free admission to the public to boost the domestic tourism industry, which has suffered since the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome," an official said.
