Foreign expats in Korea will be able to call a hotline for guidance if they show symptoms of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. The hotline will be available in 19 languages.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said Tuesday that foreigners can call 109 for instructions if they show MERS symptoms like fever and coughing.

An English-language service started last week, while Chinese and Japanese assistance will be offered from Thursday. People speaking other languages can call 1345 for assistance.

A ministry official said, "Foreigners will be provided with the same medical care and support as local citizens."
