Chinese residents are the most satisfied group of foreigners in Seoul while Japanese are least happy, a survey by the Seoul Metropolitan Government finds.

Chinese expats gave living conditions here a score of 7.34 out of 10, while Japanese gave it just 5.67 points. Europeans gave it a middling 6.98 points, Britons and Americans 6.97 points, Vietnamese 6.97 points and Taiwanese 6.92 points.

The survey was conducted in October last year among 2,500 foreigners in the capital. The score given by Chinese residents rose slightly while that of Japanese expats fell a little.

The overall score came out to 6.97 points, up a statistically insignificant 0.11 points.

Foreigners were most satisfied with housing with a score of 7.6 points, followed by safety (7.44 points), urban environment (7.1 points), educational environment (6.97 points) and friendliness of local residents (6.93 points).

Some 268,000 foreigners including 194,000 Chinese and 8,400 Japanese live in Seoul.
