University graduates face odds of 33:1 in landing a job this year.
This is partly because businesses are cutting back on hiring amid a slow economy and a regulation mandating retirement at 60 starting next year, which would prevent them from laying off staff who are nearing that age.
The Korea Employers Federation surveyed 377 companies nationwide and found that the odds of a fresh graduate landing a job are 32.3:1 this year, compared to 28.6:1 in 2013.
In large businesses the odds are 35.7:1 (31.3:1 in 2013) though in smaller companies they are 6.6:1 (6:1 in 2013).
