More than 200,000 people flocked to the new Lotte World mall over the weekend after the cinema and aquarium reopened. Children from low-income households, local residents and senior citizens were given free admission to the two facilities before they open to the general public on Tuesday.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government in December closed down the facilities citing water leakage at the aquarium and mysterious vibration in the cinema.
A Lotte spokesman said 99,000 people visited the mall on Saturday and more than 100,000 on Sunday.
Some 10,000 moviegoers went to the cinema on Saturday and Sunday. A total of 37,000 people booked free cinema and aquarium tickets online.
Sales at the food court next to the aquarium rose more than 50 percent compared to usual weekends.
