Paris Baguette has opened another store in the heart of New York in a bid to expand its business in the U.S. The bakery chain wants to raise brand awareness and gain a foothold in the city before starting franchise businesses later this year.

SPC Group, the operator of the bakery chain, on Wednesday said Paris Baguette opened its 42nd U.S. store on Park Avenue and 23rd Street in Manhattan on April 27.

It is the sixth store opened in New York since the first one in Times Square in October 2013. The bakery is located where Union Square and the Gramercy area meet.

The group is making an aggressive effort to penetrate the U.S. market, opening a number of stores in Manhattan and California.

"The main branch in downtown Manhattan is attracting an average of over 1,000 visitors a day," said Shin Woo-jin, an executive at the company.
