Historic sites of the Baekje Kingdom in southwestern Korea that date back to the 7th century A.D. are expected to be added to UNESCO's world cultural heritage list.
The Cultural Heritage Administration on Monday said the International Council on Monuments and Sites, or ICOMOS, recommended that the Baekje sites be added to the heritage list.
Most of the sites recommended by ICOMOS have been selected for inclusion. The decision will be made at a UNESCO meeting from June 28 to July 8 in Bonn, Germany.
The addition will mark Korea's 12th UNESCO-recognized world heritage site.
