KEPCO has completed building the world's largest diesel-powered plant in Jordan. The completion ceremony of the Amman Asia Power Plant on Wednesday was attended by over 200 people including KEPCO president Cho Hwan-ik and Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.
KEPCO says the plant is in Guinness World Records for being the world's biggest diesel-powered plant with the capacity to generate 573 MW in 30 minutes.
KEPCO will directly manage the plant for the next 25 years and hopes to earn US$3.2 billion in sales.
The Korean power monopoly now operates two plants in Jordan, the other being the 377-MW Al Qatrana plant, and is in charge of meeting 25 percent of Jordan's demand.
