More and more Koreans are choosing to shop online and on their phones, a recent study revealed.
According to Statistics Korea, online shopping sales surged 18 percent in the first quarter from the previous year, with the total volume of transactions reaching approximately US$11.6 billion. Purchases made through smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices soared roughly 80 percent in the same period to nearly $4.7 billion.
Online purchases of automobile-related products saw the biggest increase, up around 42 percent on-year, followed by cosmetics and food and beverage items.
