Fewer people have visited baseball stadiums since the start of this year's professional baseball season in late March.
As of Wednesday, 676,547 people have attended 69 games, down 13 percent from the 773,458 during the same period last year.
Many blame colder than average weather as the main reason behind a sluggish start to the season.
According to Korea Meteorological Administration, the average temperature from April 1 to 14 was 10.9 degrees Celsius in Seoul, 1.1 degrees lower than a year ago.
A study conducted by the Korea Baseball Organization found there is an increase of 95 spectators per game for every one degree increase in temperature.
"When the weather gets warmer in May and competition between teams heats up more people will visit stadiums to watch games live," said the KBO.
