Model-turned actor Kim Young-kwang emerged from about a decade of obscurity after his appearance in the TV drama "Pinocchio" which recently ended.
In the drama, he played a TV reporter. He was probably a new face to many viewers, but he in fact debuted with a minor role in a TV series in 2008.
He recalled he was determined to be a good actor and struggled in the meantime, but about eight years later, all his efforts paid off.
"It was frustrating in the beginning when I wasn't able to act the way I wanted to," Kim said. "But, the challenging role [in the drama] forced me to be better."
"At the beginning of my career, I couldn't afford to reflect upon myself, and I was hasty to do something I wasn't even ready for. But now, I realized that if I get too hung up on what I can't do, I wouldn't be able to sustain my acting career for long. Of course, it doesn't mean that my desire to be good at acting is compromised, but I try to feel less burdened than before."
Kim hopes to continue to build up his acting career and stay busy with various TV and movie projects.
