Kim Sei-young's "red trousers" magic appears to work just as well in the U.S. as elsewhere, as she picked up her first U.S. LPGA Tour title on Sunday in the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic on Paradise Island.
Torrential rain and strong winds forced organizers to schedule the remainder of the third round and the final fourth round for the same day.
Wearing her trademark lucky red trousers and a white T-shirt for the final round, Kim birdied the 18th hole to join compatriot Yoo Sun-young and Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn in the lead.
The three-way tie at 14-under 278 forced a playoff, in which Kim holed an 8-foot birdie putt on the first hole to clinch victory.
Kim, who walked away empty handed after missing the cut at the season-opening Coates Golf Championship, picked up a check of US$195,000 in the winner's prize money.
"I worked so hard to prepare for this event because I missed the cut in the season-opener. I'm so happy to achieve my 10-year-long dream of winning an LPGA event," said Kim.
