The busiest time of the week in Seoul is Friday, and the largest number of Seoulites flock to the Gangnam Station area, data analysis of smartphone users confirms.
According to a report issued by the Korea Transport Institute on Monday, analysis of 150 million data of SKTelecom's smartphone users in November 2013 shows Seoul is the busiest place in the nation and human traffic peaks on Fridays.
Fridays saw four to five percent more human traffic than other days of the week and around 40 percent more than on Sundays. The busiest times on Friday were between 3 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning.
Those hours saw up to a 10 percent increase in the number of people going somewhere other than home.
Data pattern also show a great wave of people moving to Gangnam south of the Han river in the morning and shifting north of the river in the afternoon.
Men tended to congregate in the Gangnam area, while women favored the downtown area of the capital around City Hall and Gwanghwamun.
University hospitals saw most human traffic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the National Assembly on Tuesdays and Fridays.
