Kim Yu-na's former coach Brian Orser believes it was Carolina Kostner of Italy who was the best skater in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Kostner won bronze with 216.73 points, Kim silver with 219.11 points and Russia's Adelina Sotnikova a highly controversial gold with 224.59 points.
In an interview with Russia's R-Sport published Monday, Orser talked about his career as both a skater and a coach.
Orser said Kostner had it all -- gorgeous choreography and elegance. Kim, according to Orser, went for a "safer" bet despite her mature and elegant skating. He said it seemed that Kim only wanted to win in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver but looked as if she was forced to Sochi.
Kostner is banned for 16 months until May next year as she was found guilty last month of assisting ex-boyfriend race walker Alex Schwazer in covering up doping.
