North Korea's trade with China shrank 2.4 percent to US$6.39 billion last year, according to a source on Monday. This was the first decrease since 2009, when the North conducted the second nuclear test.
China's exports to the North were down 3.1 percent on-year and its imports from the North 1.5 percent, the diplomatic source in Beijing said quoting Chinese trade statistics.
The decrease in trade was due to the strained relations in the wake of the North's third nuclear test in February 2013 and the execution of pro-Chinese eminence grise Jang Song-taek in December that year, experts speculate.
