Four people were killed and 126 injured in a fire at a 10-story apartment building in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province on Saturday. The death toll could rise, however, as two of the injured suffered severe burns.

The blaze started when a motorcycle caught fire in a parking lot on the first floor of the building, quickly spreading to nearby vehicles and higher floors, according to police.

Strong winds in the area soon carried the fire to adjoining buildings.

Mask-clad residents retrieve valuables and daily necessities from an apartment block in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province on Sunday, a day after a fire swept through the building.

The fire was first reported at 9:27 a.m. and firefighters were on the scene in six minutes. It took another 10 minutes for fire engines to gain access to the building, because illegally parked vehicles blocked the only road leading to it.

It took firefighters more than two hours to completely extinguish the blaze.
