GM to Recall 100,000 Cars Over Faulty Brake Hose

      January 12, 2015 10:07

GM Korea will recall around 100,000 cars whose front wheels have been fitted with defective brake hoses, the Transportation Ministry said on Sunday. The faulty hoses can cause brake fluid to leak.

The recall will start in May and applies to Cruze, Lacetti Premier and Orlando models manufactured between October 2008 and May 2011.

As the component is directly related to drivers' safety, and given the large number of cars affected, the ministry decided to announce the recall in advance so that drivers can take precautions. The recall will not start until May, as it will take some time to supply the replacement component.

The ministry has not yet established whether the fault is limited to brake hoses supplied during the affected period, or whether there is a broader design problem.
