The Kia Tigers have rejected a bid from Major League Baseball for Yang Hyeon-jong, the team announced Wednesday.
The Korea Baseball Organization received the bid result from MLB last Saturday, some four days after it asked for Yang to be posted.
The bid, estimated to be about US$1.5 million, was just too low for the team’s left-handed ace.
Though Yang was excited at the opportunity to go abroad, his team convinced him that the offer was not worthwhile.
Yang will not be available for MLB teams again until Nov. 1, 2015. He may consider playing in Japan should the Tigers give permission. Or he may stick around for another season in Korea, hoping to catch the attention of overseas scouts once again.
