Hyundai and its affiliate Kia are expected to set record sales in the BRICs markets this year.
Hyundai said on Sunday it had sold over 2 million cars in the BRICs -- Brazil, Russia, China and India -- until September this year, up 7.1 percent from a year ago.
At this rate, sales may well reach 2.7 million by the end of the year, the highest ever in these markets, surpassing last year's total of 2.58 million cars.
The combined shares of Hyundai and Kia in the BRICs markets will likely exceed 11 percent for the first time.
As of September, the emerging markets accounted for 35.8 percent of the automakers' total sales, a 1.4 percent increase on-year.
Meanwhile, sales in Europe and North America stayed stagnant.
