Hotel Shilla is about to open a new business hotel in Seoul's thriving Gangnam district. The Samsung affiliate said Wednesday that the new hotel, called Shilla Stay Yeoksam, will open on Oct. 1.
Rooms will be cheaper than in a five-star hotel and offer a full complement of business services.
It was designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni, who is also behind other striking hotels like the Mitsui Garden Ginza Premier in Tokyo and Studio M Hotel in Singapore.
The Shilla Stay Yeoksam has 306 rooms that will cost W200,000-300,000 (US$1=W1,039) a night.
General Manager Kim Tae-heung said the hotel is close to Gangnam's business and shopping districts.
"We merely made the rooms smaller, but the facilities, services and bedding are the same as in luxury hotels," he claimed.
Shilla plans to build eight more business hotels by 2016 in Seodaemun and Mapo districts of Seoul, as well as Jeju Island and Ulsan.
