A 17-year-old shooter won two gold medals at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games over the weekend.
Kim Cheong-yong won gold in the individual and team competitions in the men's 10-m air pistol event on Sunday, becoming the youngest Korean shooter to win gold in the Asiad.
He is also the first Korean athlete to win two gold so far in this year's Games.
In the team final, Kim shot 585 points along with veteran Jin Jong-oh and Lee Dae-myung, who earned 581 and 578 points. With a total score of 1,744 points, Korea edged out China by one point to claim gold.
In the individual final, Kim won with 201.2 points, ahead of China's Pang Wei with 199.3 points and Korean teammate Jin, who gained 179.3 points.
The result was unexpected. Pang is the 2008 Olympic gold medalist and Jin the 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the discipline. This has been Jin’s main event, as he holds the world record of 594 points.
But Kim started off strong with 10.6 points in the first shot and held on to the lead.
Kim took up shooting at the age of 14 and just three years later stood at the top of the podium.
