When state-run organization or public agencies buy official vehicles next year, one out of four must be an electric car.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Wednesday it will revise related regulations next month as part of its efforts to promote eco-friendly vehicles.

Under the current regulations, over 50 percent of vehicles owned by these public organizations are required to be small or hybrid cars. The ministry decided to add a clause to replace 25 percent of vehicles with electric cars.

"With the revision, 500 to 700 vehicles will be replaced with electric cars," a ministry spokesman said.
