LG on Monday unveiled the world's first curved ultra-HD OLED TV on Monday, the industry's most sophisticated model in terms of both resolution and material.
At a launch event in Yeouido, Seoul, LG said it will take pre-orders for the 65-inch model on Tuesday.
OELD displays decrease power consumption by more than half and refresh almost 1,000 times faster than LCDs.
So far LG has sold full-HD OLED TVs that offer twice the resolution of regular HD models. The latest boasts an even higher resolution, four times that of full-HD TVs, and is over 10 inches larger than the 55-inch curved TV that hit the market in April.
UHD OLED TVs are thin and light. The 65-inch model is only 6 mm thick, as against around 3 cm of LCD TVs in the same size. It is also 20 percent lighter at 24 kg, while LCD TVs the same size weigh around 30 kg.
But it comes with a hefty price tag of W14 million (US$1=W1,021).
