Todd Park, the chief technology officer at the White House, is to step down at the end of this year, according to media reports there.
The Korean American will return to Silicon Valley to work in liaisons between IT companies and the U.S. government but is not expected to assume any official posts.
Park, who became the CTO in March of 2012, was tasked by U.S. President Barack Obama to resolve the bugs that plagued the government's health insurance website.
Prior to his career in government, the 41-year-old Harvard graduate co-founded Athenahealth and Castlight, which grew into successful healthcare IT companies.
