Two Koreans were among the victims of a landslide in a residential area in Hiroshima, Japan that killed about 40 and sent scores more people missing, the Foreign Ministry here said Thursday.
"We confirmed that as a result of the landslide in Hiroshima on Wednesday, two Koreans living nearby were swept away, one of whom was killed and the other seriously injured," ministry spokesman Noh Kwang-il said.
The two Koreans were a married couple in their 70s who have lived in Japan for a long time.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se sent a condolence message to his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida, expressing the hope that Japan will cope well with the disaster and life in the affected area will soon return to normal.
The landslide was caused by torrential rains.
