The Korean national football team will be playing in the same group as Laos, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. The drawing was held in the Harbor Park Hotel in Incheon on Thursday.
Korea is hoping to win gold for the first time in 28 years since the Games were held in Seoul in 1986.
A total of 29 teams will compete in men's football in Incheon, and the top two finishers of each of the eight groups will qualify for the round of 16.
Manager Lee Kwang-jong said that they will focus on improving teamwork until the sporting event kicks off.
The team training will begin on Sep. 1 in the National Football Center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. The first match will be against Malaysia in Incheon on Sep. 14, the second match against Saudi Arabia will be in Ansan on Sep. 17, and the final match of group A will be against Laos in Hwaseong on Sep. 21.
Meanwhile, the Korean women's football team, aiming for their first ever gold in the Asian Games, is in the same group with the Maldives, India, and Thailand. The team started training at the NFC on Thursday. Ji So-yun, the ace of the team who plays for the Chelsea Ladies FC in England, will join the team from the quarterfinals.
