Korean Automakers Target Chinese Market with New Sedans

      Hyundai and its affiliate Kia aim to increase their market presence in China with the release of new models.

      Hyundai began selling its new Genesis luxury sedan on Monday while Kia plans to release its mid-sized sedan in October.

      At a launch event on Monday in Beijing attended by some 800 guests including customers and auto industry insiders, a Hyundai spokesman said "its newly-modified Genesis sedan, which recently received top ratings in a safety test by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway safety, will boost the automaker's brand value in China."

      Kia will also launch its K4 midsize sedan in China in October, manufactured locally in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. The midsized family sedan is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine.
