KORAIL will run eight extra subway trains on Saturday, when Pope Francis presides over the beatification of 124 Korean martyrs in Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul, a spokesman said.
Five extra trains will be in service for Subway Line No. 1, one for Subway Line No. 4, and two more trains for the Bundang Line. They will be in service during early hours to get congregants there in time when the venue opens its gates.
Meanwhile, the subway will not stop at nearby City Hall Station, Gyeongbokgung Station and Gwanghwamun Station. Entrances and exits will be blocked until the ceremony comes to an end.
The subways will operate normally after 12:30 p.m.
About 330,000 people including congregants are expected to attend the beatification mass.
