Age Checks for Online Adult Music Tightened

It will become more difficult for underage youngsters to listen to songs with adult content on the Internet.

Starting Aug. 21, music content providers are asking users verify their age whenever they want to access a song deemed suitable for grownups only.

Currently users simply need to verify their age once when they sign up to a music website like Melon or Naver Music.

The move has been dismissed as pointless since only Korean content providers are being required to ask for verification step, while YouTube or any other international websites are not.
