A majority of respondents said samgyetang (chicken soup with ginseng) is Korea's most invigorating food during the summer, according to a straw poll of 400 Koreans and 50 foreigners recently conducted by Korea House, where visitors can experience traditional Korean culture while tasting traditional Korean food and watching performances.
Foreign respondents include tourists, students and businessmen.
About 75 percent of the respondents said they recently had the dish.
The majority of Korean respondents also said they would recommend samgyetang to foreigners. When asked why, 34 percent said they think samgyetang is the most authentic Korean food, 33 percent said most foreigners might like the food regardless their cultural or religious practices, and 25 percent said it is delicious and very nutritious.
As for foreign dishes, 29 percent of Korean respondents said they want to try lamb or beef steak, and 24 percent picked shark fin soup. Some other exotic foods that were mentioned include foie gras, escargot, tom yam kung and gazpacho.
