Hyundai Group chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun on Monday marked the 11th anniversary of her husband's death at North Korea's scenic Mt. Kumgang resort.

The North sent the deputy head of the United Front Department, Won Dong-yon, to the memorial service. Hyun quoted Won as saying North Korean leader Kim Jong-un told him to "pay his condolences."

Speaking to reporters after her visit, Hyun said North Korean officials she met there told her they want to resume package tours to Mt. Kumgang, which used to be run by her firm.

She said there was no special message from Kim.

The tours to Mt. Kumgang, run by subsidiary Hyundai Asan, were suspended six years ago after a North Korean soldier shot dead a South Korean tourist in her 50s.
