The cap on duty-free goods Koreans can bring in from overseas will be raised from US$400 to $600 per person next year, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance said Tuesday.
"We decided to raise the limit, which has been unchanged for 26 years, to reflect current economic conditions," a ministry official said.
The government also plans to increase the maximum value of goods Korean nationals can buy from duty-free shops in Jeju Island by the same amount.
