Yoo Chae-young Dead of Cancer at 41

Singer and actress Yoo Chae-young died of gastric cancer Thursday morning. She was 41. Her husband and family were present at her deathbed, her agency said.

Yoo was diagnosed with the disease last October. She received treatment but her condition deteriorated as the cancer had already spread to other parts of her body.

After being discharged from hospital, she tried to return to normal life but was readmitted to hospital in mid-July.

The agency expressed hope that Yoo will be remembered as a cheerful, loving individual.

She made her debut in 1994 as a member of the mixed trio Cool and went solo in 1999 before appearing in several movies in supporting roles.
