Football star Park Ji-sung has become the 555th member of the Community Chest of Korea's Honor Society on Tuesday by donating W100 million to the charity organization.
He said the donation is meant to repay support he received while representing Korea in World Cups and playing in the Premier League. He hopes his actions will spark others' interest in charity.
Park has been committed to charity since he founded the JS Foundation in 2010. He also set up a center for youth football in the same year and hosts events for young people every year.
The former Manchester United player, who announced his retirement from professional football in May, will play for the last time on Friday in the K-League All Star Game as a member of Team Park Ji-sung led by Guus Hiddink. Two days later, he will marry Kim Min-ji, a former news presenter.
