The long drought for golfer Yoon Chae-young finally came to an end after her 160th attempt in the KLPGA competition on Sunday when she won the Jeju Samdasoo Masters held at the Ora Country Club in Jeju.

"In the beginning of every season for the past nine years, I made a firm resolution that I would finally win my first tour title," she said. "I was the only one among those who debuted in 2006 that did not yet have a title, but I never gave up hope."

Yoon had been rather popular for her good looks and model-like stature at 172 cm thus far. Two runner-up performances in 2008 were the best she had until last week.

When her ranking in the prize money list dropped to 41st last year, she became even more resolved to succeed.

"Until last year, I just thought that my time would come someday," Yoon said. "But this time, I was even more determined to win. I had many difficult moments in my career, but I overcame obstacles by thinking of them as a process I needed to go through."
