Southern Port Lends Charm to Films, Dramas

South Gyeongsang Province is known as the land of the sea as it sits on Korea's southern coast. The water there is cleaner than in the west or east, and the landscape is lined with beautiful islands, making the region a perfect locale to film television shows and films.

The port town of Masan in Changwon, in particular, has a set for historical dramas and films. The set sprawls on a site equivalent in size to four football fields.

Its old-fashioned buildings are built with fragrant wood, its dark brown hue standing in beautiful contrast to the endless blue of the sea.

Details like pubs, a dock, a blacksmith shop, farming tools and old fabric add to the authentic feel.

The dock is the largest structure and the most popular among tourists with some replicas of ancient trade ships floating on the water.

Tourists can relive memorable moments from films and TV dramas. After they've had a look around, they can also take a break at a neighboring park with well-maintained gardens and hiking paths.
