Torrential Rains to End Drought

Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province will see heavy rains on Thursday evening, which comes after weeks of drought in the grip of severe heat wave.

With hot and humid southwesterly winds, some parts of the region will be drenched by more than 20 mm/h of rains, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast.

The rain will gradually abate around noon Friday, while southern parts see occasional monsoon rains until Friday morning.

Up to 40 mm of rains are expected in Seoul, and Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Jeju, and Gyeongsang provinces, and 20 to 60 mm in South Jeolla Province until midnight Friday.
