Koreans are sick for more than 10 years in their lifetimes on average, according to a report by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs on Sunday.

The institute conducted a survey of health-adjusted life expectancy for babies born in 2011.

That equates to about 13 percent of 81.2 years in life expectancy for them.

For boys, life expectancy is 77.6 years, with 8.8 years of illness, while that for girls is 84.4 years, with nearly 12 years of illness.
