Recent OECD statistics show that Korea has the second-most traffic accident deaths among member nations. The OECD said Monday that the death rate in Korea as of 2011 stood at 105 for every 1 million people.
Poland had the highest number of fatal accidents with 109, and the U.K. had the lowest number of deaths at 31.
Although Korea's death toll decreased by nearly 37 percent over 10 years, roadway safety has not improved as much as in other nations.
The number of deadly traffic accidents in Spain plunged by nearly 67 percent over the same period.
